The Open Crafting Test has just been announced and it's time to lift the veil from one of the most important updates for this test which includes a lot of changes for the Crafting System in Starfall Online. As you remember, we are extending it and have already announced new components and resource - Rho-element, so you can check it out in previous WIP articles. Today we are going to tell you why you need these new components and show other changes.
Equipment cards, and categories
Before we start talking about crafting itself, let's make a short overview for two other related changes - they are more cosmetical, but still rather important in general:
Defective equipment and disassembling
So, you are still wondering why we need all these new components to craft, right? The matter is that now defective equipment can not be equipped to ships - instead, it can be disassembled. Well, all equipment can be disassembled now, Including Improved and Normal quality items. Disassembling gives you different parts of this equipment which can be used to craft Normal or Improved version of a disassembled item or other things: for example, there are parts which are used in any ballistic weapon crafting, parts for all energy weapon or only for antimatter equipment and etc.
Can not represent the final version of disassembling and its' menu. WIP.
The good thing now is that when you disassemble defective items, you get some item experience and, with time, get a recipe of this item forever, saved in your crafting menu. For example, to learn how to craft Small Shields, you must disassemble 3 Defective Small Shields or 1 Normal Small Shield. So, while disassembling items, you learn to craft equipment and get components at the same time. However, Improved Equipment Projects can not be acquired this way and are still of a single use - you can only find it while traveling across the Galaxy.
As the new system comes to Starfall Online, giving you the ability to get equipment of all qualities without a help of upgrades on Repair and Science stations (no need to look for the right station anymore!), they will lose this function and, with time, get another one.
Also, equipment disassembling gives you Production Points. And that's another important section of this news articles - let's head right to it.
Crafting and Production Points
To give you a chance to craft items without a need to spend much time, we converted required time to a special currency - Production Points. It accumulates over time (not depending on your online or offline status) and, additionally, can be acquired by disassembling items - here you can even choose to disassemble item only for PP, without getting any components.
Can not represent the final version of crafting and its' menu. WIP.
So now, instead of time, each Project requires Product Points which, basically, represent accumulated time - 1 minute for 1 point. In case you don't have enough PP, an item will be placed into the queue and will show you the time required to accumulate a sufficient amount of PP. And yes, another good thing is that now you can queue items, filter them and change their place in a queue!
Think that we've told you about all the upcoming changes, right? But there is much more - you will be able to check it out on Open Crafting Test starting 9th August, and we'll also post full patch notes later. Stay tuned!
